We are a traditional institution

Tradition

The Faculty of Science was established in 1919. The faculty is founded on the tradition of Gregor Johann Mendel (1822–1884), the world-famous father of genetics. During the course of its existence, the faculty has successfully produced a number of prominent figures in biology, chemistry, geography, geology, physics and mathematics. To this day, it remains primarily a research-oriented faculty, offering university education closely linked to both primary and applied research and high school teaching of the following sciences: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and the Earth sciences.

“… tradition is a common work of generations, a common and obvious discipline.”

Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk
